Treatment options vary depending on the extent and position of the crack. Early detection and treatment increases the chances of saving the tooth.
- If the tooth is salvageable the weakened (cracked) part of the tooth is removed and a crown is placed on the tooth.
- If the crack is salvageable but has lead to inflammation of the nerve then root canal treatment will be required on the tooth before placing a crown to reinforce the tooth afterwards
- If the crack is unable to be treated then extraction of the tooth will be required.
Diagnosis and management of a cracked tooth is not a simple task and may require multiple visits and tests before we can offer treatment options.
