Dr. Shayeste Irani, BDS (Otago)
Following my graduation from the University of Otago in 2011, I have worked in both Greenlane and Middlemore Hospital Dental Departments as a Maxillo-facial house surgeon which gave me a strong foundation in the management of medically compromised patients, wisdom and surgical tooth removal and dental emergencies and trauma. I had the pleasure of treating a wide variety of patients ranging from very young children to the elderly. In private practice, I continued with further education and courses to gain further qualifications in my areas of interest including implants, surgical extractions, paediatric dentistry and sedation.
– Australian Society of Implant Dentistry Course
– Ace Institute of Implant Dentistry New Zealand
– Certified provider of Intravenous Sedation (NZ)
– Member of the New Dental Association
– Member of the New Zealand Society of Sedation in Dentistry
I particularly find the management of anxious patients very rewarding and have spent the past 5 years striving to achieve a tailored, non-judgmental approach to help those who find getting dental treatment particularly challenging. Our aim is to understand your needs and concerns and then slowly build your trust and confidence to enable you to feel more in charge and comfortable with your ongoing oral health care. My warm, bright and outgoing personality combined with care and gentleness, will put you at ease and I thoroughly enjoy working with children too.
Having had my first child in 2019, I am excited to return to dentistry and join the lovely team at All Smiles Dental part time. Outside of teeth, I do enjoy gardening (…strictly limited to vege patches!), spending time with my family and friends and skiing.
